Rock Springs Elementary School Reviews

As a parent of a fifth grade student, it is a sad parting with Rock Springs Elementary this month. I wish my child could stay with his current teacher - she has been wonderful! My son has blossomed as a person in her classroom; he's never been happier.

The teachers at this school are great. They have done everything in their power to help my child. I would have marked it as higher if it were not for the principal. I tried to have a meeting with her and she was very impersonable. I have also witnessed her interacting with her teachers and she does not empower them at all. If anything, I think the teachers are afraid of her. I really feel for the teachers.

The enthusiasm of the 'new' teachers at the school is infectious!

I have an older daughter that spent 4th and 5th grade at this school and it was great then. Since they replaced the principal it has really gone down hill. I have 2 other children now attending. The teachers pass out work and expect the kids to just do the work. If they cant do it on their own they are behind on grade level. I am not a teacher and dont feel that I should be responsible for teaching my kids everything at home. The new princible is absolutly no help!

This last year has been an adjustment for us all. My daughter had the best teacher in the fourth grade. Loved her. New principal has done ok but she had very big shoes to fill and still has a long way to go. I have issue with the county for taking a seasoned principal away from an 'a' school and putting in a first time principal in and you wonder why our garde dropped to a 'c'. Maybe the new principal should go back to what worked before she came and don't be afraid to have fun.

I think Rock Springs is the best elementary in Apopka (new school not considered). The experience levels of the faculty and staff are great, as well as the quality of academic programs. My daughter has been back to school for only two months and has impressed me greatly with the new things she has learned already. They have wonderful availability of programs and the level of parent involvement is most impressive. I was already offered several opportunities to help out and volunteers are always welcome. I can even go to her class and help out any day that is good for her teacher and I. Wonderful school! Great staff! LOVE IT!

Excellent school. My child was reading at an alarming rate and his first grade teacher was phenomenal. Great school.

I have been so happy with Rock Springs. My son has been going for two years and I have had no problems what so ever. I love the fact they they encourage parent envolvment and have such open communication. My son is above average in every subject and his teacher have been able to challenge him on an individual level. I think anyone would be happy to have their children attend Rock Springs!

This school has great parent involment. The teachers & staff really care about the students. The school promotes charactor values into the daily learning.

I could not be happier with this school. I am a very protective parent and actually can relax knowing that my son is safe and being well educated. Every member of the faculty that I have come into contact with is very attentive the the children's needs. Any parent of a prespective student reading this should feel good about enrolling their child at Rock Springs Elementary School. It seems that most of the parents at this school are involved in some way with the various programs and activities. My son is blossoming at this school, and I can only thank the staff for that. I believe there should be more P.E., but I understand that there are time constraints.

I think the school is great!

Very good school! They really want there students to succeed. I am a mother of biracial children and a christian and the love from students and teachers is really wonderful and comfortable. The principal relly hires cring teachers with a good educational background.

The academic programs are average however, a few teachers pass out packets of language, math, and reading dittoes or worksheets. They sit at their desks while the children do their work independently without assistance. Children are told to do their busy work quietly and not complain. The principal does not visit classrooms to keep an up to date assessment of how the teachers are interacting or teaching the children. The school is too crowded and the facility is extremely poor especially the plumbing and drinking water.

Rock Springs is a very good elementary school. It has an organized professional staff who all have a genuine interest in seeing the children succeed.

When rating Rock Springs amongst other schools in the area it does rate relatively well. However if you've attended school anywhere else in the US you'll notice it has MUCH to be desired. The faculty and staff are mediocre at best. There are no sports programs at all. The school is overcrowded and the teachers will be the first to let you know it. My daughter missed the bus from school no one knew where she was. My son's teacher refuses to communicate with us. The one plus side to this school is that before long we will be moving out of this state!

My experience with this school was exceptional in 'most' areas. All 3 of my kids attended. One particular child fell behind early in his elementary years. It was noticed by his teachers, testing was recommended, testing was done, but he didn't quite qualify for any additional help or disabilities of any kind. This is where I believe the school fell behind in their responsibilities. I wanted to hold my son back but they convinced me that they would do everything to ensure he caught up, plus they said he was too tall to hold back. He would stand out (which he already did anyway because of his height). The teachers were great, most of them he dad did an incredible job teaching and really cared about the students. So I'd say that my issues were more with Administration than anything else. Great school, great teachers.

I was a student at this school! I graduated from 5th grade 3 years ago. It was very nice, helpful, wonderful school with a really great principal and teachers! Everything about this school is really good. The lunches weren't that good. But who cares. Pack your own! Education is more important!

I have been a parent at Rock Springs for 6 years and have another 5 to go. I have seen many changes over the years that have benefited the school enviornment and education of the students. The administration is very accesible and willing to help in any circumstance. The teachers are well prepared and easy to approach. However, with the current emphasis placed so much on achieving high scores on one standardized test, the FCAT, I believe that students are not getting the education that they should be due to the 'teaching of the test'. The parent involvement at RSE is wonderful. The PTA contributes all of the money they raise back to the school in many different ways to benefit all students. Rock Springs is a great place to be and I am very happy as are my children.
