Lockhart Elementary School Reviews

This school is excellent. The teachers are well trained and really care about the children. They focus on each child individually and set goals for the different learning levels of each child. The teachers spend many hours at school before and after normal hours to ensure that the best learning can happen during regular class hours. There are plenty of after school functions based on the academic achievement goals for the students. I am excited about how involved the principal is at this school. The only disappointing aspect is the lack of parent invlovement. More parents need to step up to the plate and help their students achieve. This school could really soar if more parents participated in their child's education.

This school is full of energetic teachers and staff. They work very hard to make your childs education a wonderful experience. Their tests scores are increasing and with more perental involvment it could soar through the roof! Your child will be welcomed into the school and will have a great elementary education.

This school is in a very good area!

Lockhart Elementary is a good school with lots of nice people. The students and teachers have gone out of their way to make my daughter feel at home here. The Extended Day program is one of the best in the state; no child is excluded or put on a waiting list here and they actually have lots of fun activities and clubs. Some days my daughter doesn't want to come home!

The school has a good music program.

I didn't have any problems with the school until last year when all this higher level achievement stuff started. It seemed to me the principle is more interested in an overall school grade than the individual needs of the child. The principle chose the cirriculum and the teachers know it is impossible to teach certain kids higher levels when they have not been exposed to basic. More focus is on third graders reading than Math. They need math skills too. I was told Math was changing mainly to word problems and the student has to be able to read the problem. Too many children in 3rd,4th and 5th grade at that school are Level one in Math. That is pitiful. They are being promoted because they can read. They put the kids on AIP's to pay special attentions to them just for the paper work. Those young children need to know the basic concepts first before they can read between the lines. Please pay attention to your child's math make sure they are getting their needs meet. If enough of us makes a fuss about this, the principal has to make chages. She feels it is a good thing she is doing for the future, but every child deserves to be taught at their level. The school has the resources she is just not using them wisely.

I transfered my child in 1st grade from private school and was pleased with the progress. A lot depends on what teacher you get as always. The planners are wonderful!

I have been really disapointed with my sons teacher attendance he had to many different teacher this year.He also wasn t aloud to take books home from the libraiy all year an the other kindergarten got to. I have been disapointed with this school all year ; there needs to be something done, if the teacher can t be there for most of the year get a teacher that can.The subs that they have had are not good with younger kids. Thats is not fair to the kids. they are supposed to like school but how can they with what they went thought in pre-k now kindergarten .
